Wendy accepted the presidency of WEA in the middle of stalled contract negotiations when the current leadership had been called up for duty in the National Guard. Wendy wanted to help settle the contract. Since then she has learned that the association is so much more than contract negotiations. WEA is a voice for making our school a better place to learn and teaching through communicating our members' concerns and working with administration to come up with a win-win situation for students and teachers. DSEA and NEA gives her a voice strength in the state and national arenas where education is definitely a hot topic!

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously
give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."
